Peaceful
Post
by Balustrade » February 18th, 2015, 10:47 am
A view from my mind’s window
A portrait - of still life bathed in peace
Framed by the innocence
Of a quiet storm passing
A quiet storm surpassing my fears
A view from my mind’s window
A painting – of angel tears falling silently
Embraced by the purity
Of a flawless dream floating
A gentle storm doting my years
I capture the fading sky
Against my heart
I imprint the colors of the waning light
Like a masterpiece of fine art
Inside the casket of my tomb
In the folds of Mother Nature’s womb
In black beaded with pearls of white
In daylight raped by the onslaught of night
In airless scents of a final breath
With open arms I welcome death

duuuuuuuude. This is phenomenal, the word choice, the flow, the repetition and the ending. A well thought and constructed piece, thank you for sharing it.

Hi Bal..This was brilliant, to be able to capture the power and essence of death with such mastery, and yet draw the reader in with such fine details that somehow soften the theme..Admirable..Tangie..

As death is a natural part of life's progression, it is always welcome, and there is no reason we should fear it.

Distraught and distressing Bal and a re-curring theme that you approach with skill and finesse; perhaps in an effort to recapture a glimmer of what was lost. Cheers pal!

Your words evoke such a longing for an inner peace and the means to achieve it. There is no reason to fear that which is unknown and is part of life. Birth is celebrated ... why not death? As usual, I love your word usage, your flow and your continuity. Another excellent creation, my friend.

How many of us think of death as ultimate release and relief? From that point of view, this poem was born.

It (presumptively) is the ultimate release. But (and this is unfortunately almost nothing but speculation) I do not think it is or would be an ultimate relief, it is only a release because after that there is nothing, or nothing that would have any nearing or meaning to existence as we understand it. For what else is nothing but that which is not something.
Regardless, I do not think any part of me that will have the capacity to express relief will be there to be relieved.

Brilliant poem. Very well put together. Two great stanza's building up the somber darkness needed to consider death as one daydreams. Great poem. I would pat you on the back if I could.

Ceasing to exist may provide release on earth, but I personally do not know what comes after that, so maybe release it is NOT!

I think this is really wonderfully written. The "peaceful" portion comes across really well. Congrats on your spotlight!

Greetings to you in Papua, New Guinea from me in the Forest of Dean in England,
I love thje imagery of opposing themes of your poem:
"mind’s window" - which is normally closely shuttered to the outside world.
"quiet storm" which then by "surpassing my fears" really reinforces both the validity of the fears and the innate contradiction of the statement. Thought provokingly so.
"A gentle storm doting my years" - a lovely description of old age (sorry, Senior Moments).
and then the final structured, and rhymed, procession to oblivion. Brilliant, I really like it.
In friendship,
Eric.

Congratulations on your Spotlight my friend for this very well deserving write reflecting on Death. If we were meant to welcome death and celebrate death, then why were we given life in the first place? Is it to learn the tangible energies as opposed to the intangible? Life is to be cherished and lived with great gusto and verve, relished, enjoyed, not in a selfish manner but in a learning, sharing and loving manner. Then we can welcome our next Hall to walk when Death comes to escort us. For in Death there are more energies to become acquainted with and reason behind them. Loved your write. Thank you and again congrats.

An enchanting poem full of striking paradoxes that searched the reader's most inner-conscience. I especially loved the irony of a storm outside the window of your life, yet presented from the point of view of the calm, tranquil 'indoors'. Amazing piece; little wonder it has reached the spotlight- and about time.

Thank you all for this beautiful support. It has been a while, and I feel I don't deserve it. I am hoping to re-exist and re-kindly friendships and emotions. God bless.
