Cour-age

Post by shays1 » November 8th, 2015, 11:54 am

Cour-age
Wide, the eyes of the dreamer.
Brighter than the light of a child.
Destined to live on planet earth
among godly creatures of the wild.

Take your dream for a walk through life;
Dog on the leash practicality.
Drag it out of the fantasy world and
paint it with sensuality.

Break open the moon to see inside,
Stare down the sun till you tear.
Be defiant beyond reality giving
finger to the flaws of fear.

When timidly shaken to tatters
with no strength left to face the boar.
Your pieces scattered, and your dream
Shattered to bits, and finally ignored.

A hundred-ninety-nine-piece-puzzle box,
which is hid in the closet and stored.
Such a triumph to open the closet door,
but to find that missing piece, the reward.

Blinded by the light of day,
after years of hiding in the dark,
Creaky bones and rattled ideas,
yet sharp as the teeth of a shark.

Initiate back from ground zero, and
Build a three-dimensional being.
Let it take shape of that far away place;
the dream you've never tired of seeing.

It takes a brave soul to try again
when all the odds are against you,
and yet what better choice do we have
than to make all our dreams come true?

Be the soul yours’ never lived.
Take the chances they never exposed.
Face the fears that stole your dreams
before your final door is closed.

Facing fear I reckon is one of the hardest things we can do...
Some of this imagery was wonderful - cracking the moon open,
walking the dog, the missing piece... all wonderful

Feeling like our butts are kicked to the dirt, can inspire us to awaken our inner courage. We should not ever forget those wonderful dreams we had, nor should we forget the One that made them possible. Like Jason mentioned above, the breaking open of the moon was brilliant! The odds may stack against us, but when we break ground and begin getting even, we are able to see ourselves a little differently. I love giving my Spirit complete authority over my dreams, but it is the three-fold alliance we are able to make, that allows our Soul to carry Light into the darkness. We should not underestimate what waits deep in the Heart of man. Much enjoyed your beautiful invigorating poem!

Thank you Jason, Christopher11, and allmirth for taking time to read and comment. Allmirth, the title was playing with coeur-(heart) and age when they come together.

This is a suitably creative and imaginative piece, I think you've captured the spirit of the dreamer here. I appreciated your note, which enlightened me further, although my initial take on how it played upon the sounds (core + age) still worked as it seems as though the core of the speaker - her heart - understood all too well the challenges and the rewards of embracing their dreams. Admittedly, if I got 999 pieces through that puzzle box before finding there was a piece missing I'd turn the air blue! lol
An enjoyable read.

Amazing poem. Courage is a good way to be humble towards our fate. To take it in your hands and do something with it, even when it's just a dream.

Love the hyphen in the title that implies something about age and how this poem so beautifully and delicately encourages us to subtly keep pushing through life. Amazing work!

Thank you everhopeful, freepreacher, and tropiclands, I enjoyed reading your comments. Everhopeful, for some reason, there was always a missing piece in every puzzle I did. (I breathed a lot of blue air for that reason!) there's something very powerful in that missing piece! Lol
Tropicland, I threw that hyphen in at the last minute and loved what it said to me. Lol
Freepreacher, that signature you have is wonderful. All three lines are great but I especially like.. Time is an invitation. Thanks again to all.

The second stanza is still echoing to me of something most will never understand Shays, and I only comprehend as a sensation, perhaps even now. A solid message for the closing, and the missing puzzle piece when found, confirms the culprit. Cheers! - Dan

Thank you dwells. The second stanza is saying to me - try to take your dream into the real world, like you would when you take a dog out on a leash - holding on to it, letting it see what's out there and how it will be received. Stop hiding the dream in the fantasty world, give it some pizzazz, and share it with someone. Overall, a message - it's never too late, till it is.

Sometimes it's all we have Shays, and thanks for the thoughtful creation and presentation of a wonderful theme - cheers again! - Dan
Also - I'd considered "Coeur" but considered it a quantum leap, even for me who knows no appreciable French. I think Coeur d'Alene is a ski resort in the Rockies...
