Inhaling the Sea

Post by Forestdawn » February 7th, 2016, 4:27 am

Cumulus creations
Appear overhead
From hours of inhaling the sea,
Solar reflections
Slice through early evening,
Illuminating the ocean for me.

Thunderous clouds
So heavy with rain,
Will blanket the sky like a glove.
Waves of excitement
Crash wildly below
As if reaching the matter above.

Storms journey onward,
Tides slowly subside,
'Till the next south wind blows ever free,
And cumulus creations
Appear overhead
From hours of inhaling the sea.

So that's how it happens! : )

Absolutely love the personification of sky and sea... love the thought of "inhaling" the sea.

Beautifully written - the clouds above, inhaling the scent of the world around you - the mystifying journeys of thunder storms. Many thanks for you writing. I am one who wanders along the inlets of Alaska in the spring and early summer, the shores of Lake Superior in the mid summer - ahh, the feel of the world above as we walk.

Again, thanks

I enjoyed your poem. Sea and sky are like yin and yang. They generate each other. Even if you live where you can not see the sea, clouds show you the ocean. Water is beautiful in all its forms.

I couldn't agree more. Being a Navy veteran, I know of what Michaelwg3 speaks--- These entities are indeed yin & yang. The sky draws water from the sea and spreads it over the earth giving this "rock" traveling through time and space life.
Once more FD you have done a great job with your wonderfully descriptive wording.

This is well-written. I like the way the first three lines are repeated at the end, they bookend the poem and give the idea of the natural process of nature happening in cycles. The rhyme is quite subtle also.
Nice work.

"Waves crashing below" was my A HA! moment here FD. Prior to that I'd thought you might be drowning (not really, but maybe just a little). Well done invoking the five senses too - cheers! - Dan
Back to the sea from whence we once sprang, or was it slithered?

Very lovely. A sense of wonder and awe sails along with the cadence and rhythm. The verses are nearly lyrical, and it stirs up such amazing visuals when I read it. Excellent and such a well deserving piece to be Spotlighted. Congratulations, truly.
