"Still", A Sestina

Post by wsparks » February 28th, 2016, 11:42 am

“Still”
A Sestina

I am
Alone and
Still.
My world, absent of God.
This must be,
For it is all that I know.

No!
I am
Not going to be
One of those fools who worships and
Prays to a God,
Who claims to be there, “in the still”.

Still,
No
God,
Or “I am”
And
Always will be.

“BE
STILL
AND
KNOW
I AM
GOD!”

Yes, if the voice of God,
Came so bold, then this superstition could really be….
This, “I am”,
Could exist and love me still.
No,
Ifs, buts or ands…

“And
God
So loved the world”, words I should know.
Be
Still
My soul, wait patiently for “I am”.

Be at peace and rest.
God is still there.
“I am” wants you to know him.

Walter Sparks; Psalm 46:10

The repeated use of 'I am' is what gave power to this piece.
nicely done.

The doubting Thomas, and the age-old question of an un-acknowledged omnipotence, are a paradox worth pondering for sure Walter. This form gave it an added emphasis of a personal nature too.
We're waiting still, and when it happens; if we are worthy - it might be too late for many.
Cheers my friend - Dan

Thank you Dan, for your time, and kind words. This form is tough for me, but I enjoy the puzzle In His Hands ws
