I hate your mouth
small, smug,
you outline each word with such precision
and yet the corners are soft
the sound whispered
as they blend into one another
almost apologetically;
at once clumsy and well defined
I hate your eyes
the way they seem to look up at me despite your height
unsure
up, to the right, as you smile
that awful, knee-weakening smile
from behind your desk
my stomach churns
as I will the wall behind to swallow me
save me
not sure if you are seeing me at all
small, smug,
you outline each word with such precision
and yet the corners are soft
the sound whispered
as they blend into one another
almost apologetically;
at once clumsy and well defined
I hate your eyes
the way they seem to look up at me despite your height
unsure
up, to the right, as you smile
that awful, knee-weakening smile
from behind your desk
my stomach churns
as I will the wall behind to swallow me
save me
not sure if you are seeing me at all

Re: I hate you
alright, scribble. you wrote a worthy little poem here and i really like it so i'm going to tell you all about why and some other stuff too probably. bet? right? heh. but really, isn't it interesting how the most passionate of emotions can be so close together in feeling and expression? i wish i could remember all the times i had a crush on someone that wasn't interested or just wanted something that i thought they could give me and i thought they were idiots for acting entitled, or felt shunned for no reason other than my own inferiority complex or any number of reasons dreamt up in order to find some excuse to put someone on the love/hate, genius/piece of poo, life of the party/recluse, amazing/terrible trains which just happen to be traveling in opposite directions. now how do you get one person on two trains traveling opposite directions? you're human, figure it out. ;) but i do think it has a lot to do with our own self-image since pretty much everything we experience is filtered through that veil which we build on the blocks of how we define our personality, the personalities of others and the beliefs and values that come with such definitions. so, whatever we may have in our veils, well, it shows up in just about everything we do. but check it out first, don't believe me. i never intentionally lie, not at all, but i write things that very well may be dubious as far as how things get done over there in your spot. but i value all insight. you communicated with me. i gave it back to you. welcome to tps. anyway,
nice little piece of writing that definitely needed some commentary. keep it up.

Re: I hate you
jsol,
This poem is about a person I am wishing I hated but might love instead. As much as I can love a person I just met, that is.
The heart is a strange thing.

I've often fallen in love while driving with people in cars passing by. Just the briefest glimpse, a locking of eyes,an instant of recognition, creates a connection and I feel like I've experienced perfect love.

Jim,
Let's just say, he's someone I should have left in the distance. Ha!

Re: I hate you
This poem vividly captures what it's like to be patronized by someone in a position of power over you. That, and it reads like a dream--well done!

Re: I hate you
Oh the age old battle between the heart and the mind ... or is it the mind and the heart? Each having their own outlook on what is best for each other. "I hate you because I love you"!! But alas, who wins? Very indirect direct composition! Love the word usage.
