A Tree Once Grew Right Through My House

Post by A. Siegelster » March 12th, 2016, 4:29 pm

A tree once grew right through my house,
A great thing it was in the middle there,
Through my room it shot straight up,
Its bare branches hanging low.

It was a wide-girthed creature,
Too big for my little arms to hug,
Though I loved it dearly where it stood,
Filling my large, wond’ring eyes.

Beneath this tree I placed my bed,
Its presence a calm and safe one,
Quite suitable for sleeping under
If you're little and alone.

Upon its lower branches I hung faerie lights
To give it another air of magic,
And I felt like magic too,
In my large room under this large tree,
I felt like a faerie myself.

Thank you, Jason! Now that you mention it, it does feel very Roald Dahl, it's now making me think of when I was small and read Danny The Champion of the World. Much wonder there. Thank you, again!

A.Siegelster:
This was excellent! I could totally relate to it. I also lived in a house when I was young, with an Oak tree right through the middle of it. Great poem!

Blessings

great imagination, it would be cool to have a tree growing right through my house but perhaps not wise (my cat would LOVE it). enjoyed the read, take care.

This is such a wonderful write. Gentle and simple and very clever. Loved it.

Loved the fanciful imagery and sense of wonder. Thank you for this - I'm out sick today and your poem brightened the day just a bit.
