Tide Pools

Post by candlewitch » April 18th, 2016, 11:21 am

Tide pools

My heart consists
of flawed pearls
and crushed seashells

I was conceived
in a whirlwind wounding
of my beloved ocean

Conch to my ear
I beckon to mermaids song
and sirens serenade

I tingle
to the thrill
of her thunderous waves

I smolder with a blaze
no mere lake can quell
I need the vast drowning of seas

I dread never
to behold
her sparkling jewels again

phantom of my birth
looms over me
in earthly plight

Forever landlocked and dreaming
fitfully the sweat of my brow
is shared by our salt...

p.s.
I wasn't sure where to post this poem. my choices were; heart, sadness or enlightenment. please relocate this to the board where you feel it most fits. thank you, Cat

You can take a woman out of the ocean but you cant take the ocean out of a woman. Its in her blood (literally). You both got whole Moon thing going.

One of your best Cat and much impressed with the almost tidal pull of this piece too. I can hear the whale song if I close my eyes - cheers and be well! - Dan
Lakes are nice but seas are special.

so you weren't sure where to put it ?
looks like they found the right place
Not sure but this feels like years of regret - that is what I read into
flawed pearls and crushed shells...
congratulations on the spotlight.

dear Jason,

I've been looking all over the boards to see where they put this. can you imagine my surprise to find it here?! this holds a lot of memories, some good, but much sorrow. and I wouldn't have it any other way, because it is mine :) thank you for reading and putting so much thought into your comment!

always, Cat

I always look forward to reading your work and this one was a beaut! I haven't been active on TPS for a bit and to read this as one of my first after a long break was mesmerizing. The consistent vision throughout was really amazing and I could almost sense the twinkle in your eye as you wrote this. The stimulation to the mind's eye was impeccable. Much enjoyed and congrats on the spotlight!

Dear candlewitch,
Flawed pearls are all of us as we live in the reality of today. Crushed seashells is what remains from the battering and powerful force of the sea or life as we add up our days. Thank you for creating a poem where I could taste the salt on my lips. Congratulations on the TPS recognition.
