Alaskan Summer Dawn
Post

Alaskan Summer Dawn
Dawn came early this morning to the Alaskan mountains
Alaskan summers never let mother Nature rest
through her I see the goodness that she places upon us
she is a Lady, and at each dawn she dances once more
her cloak of dark gray to drift off her shoulders soon
a dress with pink and yellow colors - she carries her rainbow palette
perhaps a hair of red to blend the colors of the world before me.
Dawn dances now on the mountain slope
palette now alive with more colors
she reflects now on both the Chugach and Resurrection Mountains
her rays penetrate the morning tidal waters of Turnagain Arm
Dawn to work with the sun and the moon as waters rise and recede
even in her shadows the colors come through
the rays to be soon captured by the plants in Nature’s garden.
Dawn, you are my lover - I discover you each precious day
there to comfort me as the shades are slowly raised
you tap at my window
Michael, Michael, come out and play
you beckon, climb with me, as I arise and now begin a day
your arise upon the mountain trail, awaking a stand of birch
with you now will come the sounds of a new day - thank you Dawn.
M
The sun is in our heart,
the moon is in our soul,
each day may change,
am just hoping to be here, for awhile,
for each sunrise and sunset.

A beautiful description of an Alaskan dawn with vibrant colors and the dawn as a girl in anew dress that dances asking only that you come out and be with her. I wish I were there.

Lovely descriptive imagery, imaginatively composed and most beautifully expressed-- much enjoyed.

Many thanks to the both of you for reading - there are so many days here in a small ski town called Girdwood that I am up to watch the new day begin here - live in a valley flanked by mountains - some day's will drive 3 miles down to where a mountain range on the other side of the inlet comes to life along with the waters of the arm. Thanks and I enjoy writing of this small place called Alaska. Mike

Gorgeous! I've always wished to at least visit Alaska, and see what it's like.
Reading this brings me close.

I always dream about visiting Alaska ... perhaps one day I will. Cool portrayal of an Alaskan dawn ... The early morning is so enticing for poets and lovers. The features distinctive of Alaska with its myriad colours must be hard to put down. Well done, fellow poet.
