Sisters of Battle

While this seems like it belongs in the Enlightened section this poem is not a based around any real world faith. Rather it is a fan based addition into the now 30 year old science fiction universe of Warhammer 40,000, of which I spend more hours then I care engrossed in the literature and setting of this dark space opera.


Sisters of Battle

His word is the doctrine by which we endure
His loving gaze cast over the endless ranks of the faithful
As we revel in the brutal dance of endless war
The raw fury of his fire ignites the kindling within our souls
There is only the Emperor our sword and shield against the darkness
For we are his beloved Sisters of Battle and in his glory we find absolution
He does not ask for blood
He can take your blood,
He is asking for souls
Only you can render unto him your soul
We long for death, not because we seek peace
But because we seek the war eternal
While these heretics refute his holy right to rule
We say let them argue with the barrel of a gun
For those united in the purpose of the Emperor
Are blessed in his sight and live forever in his memory

Ooh - I'd love this in The Darkness too CY; excellent verses, spooky and sinister for sure. It isn't easy to sound biblical / prophetic without lapsing into some corny contrivance, but you have done so here with your wondrous words. Cheers and battle onward!
