A Haiku Saga

Post by nortan223 » June 7th, 2012, 10:54 am

What is a Haiku?
With a name like that it has
To be Japanese

Japanese Haiku
Don't tax readers' memories
Or poets' pockets

If they have a yen
For creating new verses
They won't spend it all

Clever Japanese
Know that if they write Haiku
It uses less ink

But to write Haiku
In seventeen syllables
Is very diffic.......

In fact, it's so hard
That whenever I try it
I have to give up

very clever string of poems. you may find with a little digging there is more to haiku than 17 sylbs

Hehe this was fun to read in a series, I'm generally not big on writing about writing, but this masterfully does so in a lighthearted, clever manner. Nice work!

Haha, I loved this! The second-to-last haiku is a gem. Great job!

Ha , an enjoyable read. Your second to last ku was sure points out one of the hardest parts of writing a haiku is trying to fit everything into just 17 syllabyls!

"What is a Haiku?

Smuckers commercials for the win!

Really dig this clever thread of haiku. Though I can't really call each of them individually-speaking a haiku, but together they tell a story and make me laugh. Second to last is a gem.... I can't help but think I've heard the same reference before though.

I like to break the rules though... Traditionally haiku shouldn't go above seventeen syllables (but you can still write them using less).

Quite a funny haiku series. The difficulties of putting so much in so few syllables is a pain in the neck. That's why I like my slammin' style :P

Anyway, this is a very nice poem!
