I went into the jungle
And what did I see?
Bodies of soldiers, ours and theirs.
I looked from the jungle
And what did I see?
Families of soldiers ours and theirs.
Who are the victims?
Those buried in the ground,
Or those who live with the pain?

Re: What Do I See
A painful truth and well expressed here. War is a bad word and full of endless pain creating holes in our lives which cannot be filled. Thanks for sharing this!!

This is absolutely heart-wrenching. As said by above comment, sadly, this is a truth of many. Very sad poem, great emotions and emotive technique.

Re: What Do I See
Such a powerful poem!
I so like the subtle change in the first line of the beginning two stnazas, as it creates an effective image in the reader's mind, like people on both sides are dying, suffering and living dreadful times, no one is winning!
I like as well how you ended it with a rhetorical question - striking ending!
Great job!
