If Trees Could Talk

Post by Whiskurz » June 8th, 2012, 7:05 pm

I wonder if the trees could talk
Would they tell about the breeze?
Would they talk about the sunshine?
Or of their many different leaves?

Would they talk about that woodpecker
That's roosted on their limb?
Or maybe devise a brilliant plan
To rid themselves of him

Image

Would they tell us of their thirst?
And celebrate the rain
Would they talk about their fear of fire?
And how they hate the flame

Would they talk about the winter?
How it robs them of their shields
As the winter breeze scatter their leaves
Across the barren fields

Image

Would they talk about the summer heat?
And the sacrifices they've made
As they hold their limbs high and strong
To cast our needed shade

Would they talk about their Creator?
Who rules from Heaven above
And profess undying gratitude
And their never ending love

Captivating tone and rhythm, from beginning to end, I couldn't stop reading. I also found the message fascinating; it is interesting to wonder just what the trees would say if they had the ability to communicate (I fear many of them would be quite unhappy.) I greatly enjoyed this, thank you for sharing!

I don't know about talking but trees certainly listen to my ramblings, they are the best at listening. Always a pleasure whisk, lovely flow and rhyme here, meadow

This was beautiful. It flowed extremely well, and as others said, I literally couldn't stop reading. A very intriguing subject that grabbed my attention at the beginning, with a satisfying conclusion. Well done!

If trees could talk, I would stop conversing with people. Just joking! But, if they were truly capable of communicating, a lot more of us would be in line for the switch.
Very much enjoyed!
