i sense a double meaning behind this. Its a beautiful tragedy what you given us here.
Confidence is a state of mind where one is willing to abandon self-preservation in order to achieve their goals

Re: In Gilded Cage
This brought tears to my eyes for all that it touches upon. No one has the right to belittle another person or creature. It is one of the worst pains to endure the abuse from someone who is supposed to love and protect us and that abuse can take years to reverse. I pity those who don't know the true meaning of love. You've used this metaphor well, I applaud you for touching on this subject. I've seen it happen to women and, some may be surprised, men, along with animals that I've been priveleged to see blossom out of their shell after suffering neglect. Compassion is a great strength. Congratulations on the Spotlight! Well done.

Re: In Gilded Cage
Wow, I have always felt sorry for a bird in a cage, or any animal really. This poem is so sad; you did such an amazing job of making me feel the despair this bird was going through, the hopelessness, the acceptance of its destiny, the knowledge of its place in life and its desire to escape even though there is no way out, I wish I could jump into your poem and save that bird from its sad little existence, you really made it come to life, I feel as though I have taken a glimpse into someone’s soul, amazing work!

Oh, my word...this really struck me. So mournful and filled with longing. A story that makes me care. Wonderful, wonderful work.

That by knowing Me here for a little, you may know Me better there.”

I love all animals and your poem literaly brought tears to my eyes. You depicted the suffering of the bird so well. Beautifully written.

This is simply one of the best poems I have ever read on this site, perhaps anywhere. Just a profoundly beautiful and well-composed write. Amazing!
