Maybe a shallow grave will heal us.
There’s no soul left to save,
don’t confuse digging with success.
Give me a memory so I can let go
of an investment already burned.
It’s a gentle reminder of how easy we can disapear,
There’s only a scent of you that lingers
but in my mind you’re still here.
Of what is capable I wonder,
What we’d give for just a moment.
It’s not just that the universe stretches on forever,
But given enough spins on the roulette table,
you’ll eventually get another moment together,
Regardless of how time and space is able;
It doesn’t end so the spins go on forever.

Re: The roulette table cheats death
That first stanza, wow! I keep reading it over and over. The lines about a shallow grave being redemptive seem to me to say "don't dig into my past, let me reincarnate into something better." I love the idea of coming together again eventually. The universe is a beautiful combination of opportunity, is it not? Though this piece ends on a sad note, I found it overall uplifting... Maybe I just desire something outside of this one life I'm living. (: Thanks for sharing!

Perchance, the roulette wheels of the future will contain all double zeros, and humanity will be both the cost and the payoff.
