Wounded knee song (Rondeau)
They heard the words, "It's for your good."
But the wise old folk understood
That government control will kill
When power, greed and hate fulfill
A death wish born of past falsehood.
When massacre is called battle should
The medal of honor give manhood
To soldiers for the dead's goodwill?
Wounded knee song
Sings of all those misunderstood
Proud Lakota souls the 7th would
Murder near Porcupine Butte hill.
Miniconjou, Hunkpapa still
Make their ghost dance brotherhood
Wounded knee song.

Re: Rondeau
I recall this from my youth 1FS. Thanks for the memories: some good / some bad and for sharing this ignoble moment in our Billy Jack history. Cheers my friend! - Dan

Re: Rondeau
something I read about and I've been out west on some of the reservations and it's so sad all of the things we have done to marginalize the native American culture and communities. sadly we've done worse than this

Re: Rondeau
I felt this epxierence of the natives holding sacred to the 7th, I was a white heyoka going to the coulees and the negative black shadows attacked me from native 7, reminded me this poem of the experince cause all of what you said i was thinking. thanks for the reminder that death is within all of us, and all it takes is an eye to see reality!
