That Subtle Sound

Post by bloodmagician » March 13th, 2019, 3:26 pm

how I miss
the pang of my heart as the lips say it’s thought
the sweet melody of your laughter
that rasp and subtle nervous chuckle, so sweet the sound
what my heart longs for
the breath I take is an everlasting hope
that I would see to your grace triumphant upon the real
the thing that makes me want more

how could I see what I was always blind too
the longing that never was returned
but why would I engulf myself self in this eternal twilight
when the reverence of my longing just circumvents the truth
that we are free
how dare I even think that you would be a part of my life
you deserve your own
how dare I want you
when the world deserves you
what do I know
but the longing of evermore
that it would be taken into itself
that I would see the light of eternity free me of my doubt
and in that twilight of thought I would see the eternal you
the sweet aroma of the universe’s chaos
that we would be
in all that would see
the truth
that our souls’ pang with longing
that our skin reaches out and pangs for the touch
of love
of grace
that you are in mine
and I yours
to be
and all that I could see
my life with you
but I could never touch your lips
just a thought
in forgotten memories

all I am is a frame of time
an afterthought
but how I long for that subtle touch
not in lust
but that essence that makes life real
of what life could be
forever wondering in what was promised
so subtle
so light
that I dare not take the chance
to find life a new
but that's that frail self
the indulgent boy that wishes for that poem to be real
that what I thought love could be
a dream in the garden of forever

Powerfully, honestly, and beautifully composed; masterful use of language and insightfully written-- much enjoyed.

There is most certainly a "subtle sound" the heart makes when it opens to another. it is accompanied by the even quieter whisper of acceptance and yearning that sisters with it. I suppose you can say it is the bit of the cosmos in our blood that makes us real. This is a beautiful tale of longing and need, of finding and wanting to hold to, but also of realizing that we can not demand, only accept. Lovely work.

so here i was reading this and i was thinking about sitting in a garden mulling over a big decision and moving slightly in my chair and listening to the bugs and birds. I could smell the grass and the flowers. This was that real and thought provoking and easily connectable. a well crafted poem sneaking up on me
