A Politician

If you would sacrifice the truth, to bolster your ego;
If you would choose deception, to hide a fault;
If you are willing to settle for, quid-pro-quo;
If your agenda is furthered, by the final-result.

If you are willing to withhold a vital part, of the story;
And consider your course, a minor omission;
If you would backstab your mother, for personal glory;
Then my friend, you are indeed, a politician.

Well said! Politicians seem to be suffering from some kind of cruel reverse evolution. Pretty soon you will see toe-nail fungus running for office. Unfortunately, I believe a big part of our politicians devolution is "We the People". Our culture and the way we communicate has coarsened . The political environment has changed to the point that people we would never want as friends are the only ones who can thrive. The bloated egos and atrophied ethics we see in todays politicos may have some survival value for them. Perhaps we are witnessing an evolutionary imperative: "the survival of the nastiest".

Not all politicians are bad but the corrupt ones make it hard for the good ones to get any respect.
