History Making Days
Rainbow connections of diversity
great men of words, great words of men
in time...
Reflections of history in broken glass,
pieces belonging to all who have passed
Times change; melting from one decade
into another...
Gather peace from the natural order, hold it
close to the heart
Inroads have been laid and spirits lifted
Cotton fields have always echoed woven hues
lost in our wrappings never seeing the threads..
the very threads that must now bind us..bond us..
together..
Throngs will gather from which they once stood
aside
Prayers will be lifted, tears will fall and dreams
will be caught in memories of great halls...
"If I were King" I would ask for change, and the
call would be raised up...
Many steps to the hills we climb a foot greater
or small...
Huge shoes for anyone to fill...Yet the call goes
out..."this is our moment, this is our time"
"One small step for man; one giant leap for mankind"

Some may think I should have posted this in "Tragedy" LOL...but due to the upcoming Presidential Election, I am posting it from the old board as at the time the event was inspiring..

History has a surfeit of tragedies--- hopefully this coming election is not going to become one of them.

The gears of history grind slowly, but care must be taken to be sure they don't stop (Or start in reverse)

I particularly liked this bit. It's vital to remember that no nation is incorruptible, but that by overcoming corruption, we become stronger than before.

Haha, I had a little chuckle at your post-script, I think a lot of elections could produce work suited for the tragedy board! However, this is a beautifully written piece of poetry, rich with images from the environment that you have skillfully used as metaphors for humanity as a whole. They reflect the opportunity which awaits those in power - a chance to make a difference for their country. Whether that opportunity is taken is for history to decide.
Really enjoyed this one.

A lovely piece Musie. I too love your little PS at the end! The style, the flow, the words all met together and just became such a complete piece of poetry, I became more enchanted with each line! Something intangible about this piece that I can't put my finger on, just makes it sing, dance and spin in literary beauty. A bookmarked piece for sure. Maybe I can put my finger on it one day, as I read it for my own enjoyment!
Great job girl! Congratulations on a well deserved turn under the spotlight! Loved it...

Just totally absorbing and jam packed with concepts that make readers aware of their own misgivings about the future.Today, we see the continuing devastation and trails of tears from the hurricane, and the election seems a moot detail.Congrats for this amazing work..TY..T..

Hi musie,
Yes, and as history has a tendency to repeat itself, the phrase 'history in the making' is both thought-provoking and layered in meaning. Congrats on the spotlight.
Go well.

Re: History Making Days
I enjoyed having the opportunity to re-read this one, posted at an apt time, with the layers of history alongside the potential for the future - the opportunity is there to make a difference for voters and politicians alike.
Congratulations on the spotlight!
