Let Fly a Goodbye

Post by Wynmaiden » December 14th, 2012, 4:05 pm

Let Fly a Goodbye

Fleeing faith, fleeing dreams of the sea
So far from scattered past
Setting my sail to break and see
For I know the sunlight will not last
So far, so high over kiss of rain
Winging alongside the paper crane

Scream in silence, my voices unheard
Long to long and try to try
Wait for me—
The dance has begun, clouds screen the sun
I walk in shadow, reflecting a story
Dust gathered on frail memory

This storm is only a nightmare
In the midst of a silent daydream
Passage of hope feels like it might tear
And beneath the clouds, maybe somebody’s there

Until I close my hand around the stars
Those miracles of forsaken lore
I’ll believe in forever-ever-more
And until my stepping stones claim the sky
I’ll let fly a fleeting goodbye
I’ll let fly, let fly a goodbye

Safe I keep rainbows behind bars of truth
Closing myself to friends
Setting my sail from time of youth
For my sight glides through heartache’s lens
Closing the gap to freedom’s cry
I won’t stand by and let the dreamer die

Beauty an imprisoned lullaby
Safe-keep my hidden smile
Wait for me--
Tears are all wrong, am I soaring long?
I fear recalling the ashes of grief
Mystery of wishful belief

So rainbows bless me and sing me to sleep
Tell me the mountain arises so steep
Asleep in the deep, I find strength to weep
The dreamers, the candlelight always will keep

This storm is only a nightmare
In the midst of a silent daydream
Passage of hope feels like it might tear
And beneath the clouds, maybe somebody’s there

Until I close my hand around the stars
Those miracles of forsaken lore
I’ll believe in forever-ever-more
And until my stepping stones claim the sky
I’ll let fly, let fly a fleeting goodbye
I’ll let fly, let fly a goodbye

Wait for me—
Promise me a plea for the unheard
Safely kept beneath the unspoken word
I deny the hold of dark, for I’m soaring home
Promise me, I’m soaring home
Tucked in the hand of a dream

After all this time, I speak in song
Word of the free--
I see when I wished I was strong
No need to flee—
The hopes I hoped dance me along
Can we be we?
Don’t tell me flight’s a fairy tale
Still wait for me--
We find it all the times we fail

This storm is only a nightmare
In the midst of a silent daydream
Passage of hope feels like it might tear
And beneath the clouds, maybe somebody’s there

Until I close my hand around the stars
Those miracles of forsaken lore
I’ll believe in forever-ever-more
And until my stepping stones claim the sky
I’ll let fly, let fly a fleeting goodbye
I’ll let fly, let fly a goodbye

Let fly a goodbye, release me to try
Until the stars blink out, I’ll seek the sky
I’ll let fly, let fly a goodbye...

this is a sad & whimsical travelogue. like that undaunted Knight, trying to reach the unreachable star, never giving up hope...

That's wonderful! I just love it!
Such sweet melancholic imagery in this and subtle rhyming! I truly enjoyed reading, and I'm pretty sure it would be a great song when music is added.
Thanks alot for sharing!

Oh, thank you. :D Someday, I hope to possibly get my song lyrics to music, but at the moment, I have no realistic way of doing it, but...I can still dream. Thank you for your kind comment.

I'm sorry I missed this one on the boards, thank goodness for second chances! What a beautiful piece! I too can imaging the melody in my head as I read the words. It's so soft and delicate, really beautiful writing! Congratulations on the spotlight pick it is much deserved!

o.o Goodness gracious gravy goslings...I had almost forgotten about this piece.
And now it's in the Spotlight...I can only say wow and thank you, thank you. It means so much to me that my work is enjoyed here, and I'm really just flabbergasted right now. Thank you....
And I have a few flickering tunes here and there, but unfortunately, I have no idea how to properly set it to music. If I ever did, it would be a soft, Celtic-like melody. ^.^ Again, thank you for your comments...they make my day.

Wow! What a wonderful creation. I love the repetition of lines. For me, it brought the writer back from a seemingly "lost direction" back to where he/she needs to be in his/her mind. Back to the mission at hand, if you will. Kind of tied the entire write together. Well deserved in the Spotlight. Congrats!

Whimsical is great word to describe this. So much of the poem felt that way to me, the images, the movement of it. Very beautiful work that had me entraced throughout. Congrats on the spotlight!

I enjoyed this piece. It's a longer piece, but still effective and engaging. I never lost interest.
Thanks for sharing.
Congratulations on the spotlight. I understand why it was chosen.

Congratulations on having your poem selected for the TPS Spotlight! My favorite line;
'This storm is only a nightmare
In the midst of a silent daydream'
offers hope to anyone going through a crises. I can imagine this with Celtic tones.

A masterpiece wynmaiden. there is so much about this poem to love. I love the extraordinary imagery and the scenery you painted with your words is very lovely. A well-deserved spotlight though I am late to the party as usual. An outstanding write by the way.
