The Spring Within
My spring within
grows new petals
unfamiliar to my soul,
garlanding my crown
with the buds borne
of the winter’s frown
and the passion of Eros.
And my third eye,
bejeweled and radiant,
gazes with infinite courage–
or is it reverence–
for the mercurial magic
that cannot be grasped,
for the bright lyrics of freedom
that invisibly sprouts my wings.
I continually yield
to the birthing of these buds,
pausing only to dissolve
again and again into
the mystery that breathes me
like a flower, unknown to itself,
erased by definitions,
which act like
a corset on my soul.
All is silently rich
as I sense a freedom
beyond the grasp of words
My spring within

unfamiliar to my soul,
garlanding my crown
with the buds borne

There is power hidden subtly in your tender words - an inspiration, amazement and a force pushing forward. It all comes from within and we must capitalize on it.

This is such a nice poem, I think Balustrade was spot on about there being power within a subtle and tender approach. Although the central images within the poem are concrete and easy to visualise, the metaphoric depth you've brought to them is what really makes the poem shine. The theme of renewal within a personal context makes this a really appealing and uplifting read.
A lovely piece of poetry, well penned.

A corset on my soul, is such a beautiful turn of phrase, you speak of so much freedom and yet you are aching to burst out of the corset and experience so much more. Brilliant gentle but strong imagery throughout.

Re: The Spring Within
I love how this poem progresses. There is a sort of awakening here, and I mean that in a pure, new age sense. Every line unfolded into something different, and more vibrant,-- evolved, both mentally and physically.
Great poem!

Re: The Spring Within
Life is miraculous, as your most wonderful write confirms. If we are at all honest with ourselves, we should be truly amazed at the many gifts we are blessed with, and the way our souls grow, change and morph, with each new offering. It is the fool who ignores all that is working in the background on his soul's behalf. It is the egomaniac that thinks he is totally responsible for everything good in his life. It is the idiot that thinks he has no affect on those around him, and subsequently on his own journey as well. Very nice and much enjoyed. Congratulations on the spotlight, it is most truly so very well deserved for this.
