THE WALKING SAND

Post by Kornelia » July 27th, 2015, 4:03 am

The walking sand
Of faded time
Hangs heavy
Over discented dawn
Rubies in the eyes of the skies
And the violet violence of cobwebed clouds
The skies of rubies
Dawn discented
Heavy hangs
Time

Faded in the walking sand

The imagery in this popped. There is a heaviness about it that seems to add to the piece. Well done!

such a wonderfully vivid picture you paint. The last two lines made for a strong ending to the overall theme.

'Sand' was an intriguing chosen theme for me. It sent my imagination wild as to what this actually represented. To me sand is imagery of erosion- the abundance of waste of something that formerly existed in a different state. I suppose time indeed erodes memories into unrecognizable states.
Just shows how a really concise poem like this can launch the reader's mind into their own interpretation.
'Heavy hangs/ Time' Was my favourite phrase.
A well-deserved spotlight!

Great to see you here, writerM....I find it a very uplifting comment from you.
The sand is a metaphor it tells the story of this poem :flower:

The movement of sand, whether in the hourglass, on the sandbar, or in the sand dune - inexorable with the passage of time. Eroded all, as the earth reclaims her own Korny. The reds and purples here are reminiscent of an unspeakable brutality, cheers! - Dan (and congratulations on the Spotlight lady!)

Indeed so, Dan, its about the movement of the sand, the cycle....
