Tears In The Night
Post
by riversidepoet » August 4th, 2015, 10:03 pm
Tears in the Night
Late into the night , sleep escapes his eyes
Her motionless body covered with shadows
Her sweet face lying on the pillow by his side
Rain drops gather right outside the window
The light from the hallway dances on her eyes
His lips so gently moving offering his prayers
All alone in the dark , so all alone he cries
Remembering back on the day that was just theirs
Try as he may the sleep would just not come
Things left unsaid and her tears he couldn't disown
From the thoughts of the pain he caused he could not run
Quietly he asked for forgiveness as his soul did groan
She will not see the tears that have now mingled with hers
They have fallen softly unnoticed while she slept
Shadows are now dancing as morning light begins to stir
With God looking down he bowed his head and wept

That moment when you realize you failed your partner. It is as hard as it can be and this poem describes it. It is heartfelt and it is true.
Lovely

Congratulations on the Spotlight for this very well deserving, heart-rendering write. We have all disappointed someone we love deeply, at one time or another. I truly believe it is the harshest betrayal we ever feel, the betrayal of self. We want to be heroes, and often fall short. But I think, most of the time, we are our own worst critic, self forgiveness is the hardest to come by. Excellent write and much enjoyed, your talent oozes out of each line. Thank you and again congrats.
