I've spent my time
just walking around
the road lay bare before me

and there I found
along my way
some hearts of dirt and iron

for what I've spent
my years and more
they are gold upon the ground

the days grow long
and I grow old
the soles of my shoes are wearing thin

I think, reflecting
upon my walks
my thoughts turn into grins and tears

I'm rich..!
...in hearts
and memory, but I'll have to walk away.

remarkable and touching. the hearts themselves for sure, but more so your heartfelt, peaceful, accepting, grateful reflections that you included as a sort of explanation, to create presence and impart the lightness felt as your abdominal center or just heart (ahh, a bit of theme?) sheds the painful weight of growth through adolescence and early adulthood into a greater maturation. i think it is a sound assumption, derived from personal experience, that a feeling of lightness would accompany this sort of process. i have been cycling all around and through the similar notion, also something you touched upon, that when some type of lightness, shedding of excesses, letting go of pain, realizing that i've been clenching my toes and simply relaxing them. this is a surrendering and brings a sense of weightlessness, floating, flying... when weight is accumulated, when pain grows stronger, when anxiety deepens, when panic runs amok. the feeling that accompanies such things is one of heaviness, burdens, tiredness, an inclination to stumble and fall. emotional hopelessness is the burden. the immense possibility of existence flows in the opposite direction. well, i clumsily just wrote in way more words what you gave out as a few peaceful pictures and profound reflections. but, i'm still glad to join the thread. ;)

Thank you, jsol, for your kind words about my simple pictures. You touch upon some profound themes, I'm honored you can draw that from what is the memory of my life on the road.

Indeed, Forestdawn, it has been awesome to find so many treasures along my way in life. It is good to see you enjoy these little memories I've carried with me.

This poem was so enhanced by the images, a real tribute to the art of enjoying what we have, and being able to smile on all that we are blessed with. The last line is a soul searcher for sure, and congrats on this well deserved spotlight...Tangie...

Hey TangerinePie and JASON! (hehehe).. I am thrilled that you enjoyed this, that much means a lot to me and I'll remember that as I keep walkin' on. Yeah, that last line, it's something I learned from my days of wayfaring.. going somewhere new means leaving the place you're in behind. It's a bittersweet thing (c=

I apologize for this late reply, things have been difficult lately. I'm okay though, it's nothing serious. I just feel badly that a month has gone by, I hope you'd forgive me for keeping you waiting. Hope your days are filled with wonder and meaning...!
