Sonnet 27
Again it's morn, and so begins my day
With this one thought: to soothe my woman’s need
With most-assuring words, meant to convey
Unswerving hope. I will perform this deed
As someone who consents to sing of love,
Yet in my bittersweet and wistful way;
Our rose-strewn paths, with cupids once above,
Succumbed to thorns, fell into disarray.
I wonder now, my sad-eyed, doubting one:
Will fairies grant that wish upon a star
And help us grasp what we had fairly won?
Take heart; oft Love may be delayed and far,
But not reduced. Love stands on firmest ground
With branches spread, and always to be found.
Again it's morn, and so begins my day
With this one thought: to soothe my woman’s need
With most-assuring words, meant to convey
Unswerving hope. I will perform this deed
As someone who consents to sing of love,
Yet in my bittersweet and wistful way;
Our rose-strewn paths, with cupids once above,
Succumbed to thorns, fell into disarray.
I wonder now, my sad-eyed, doubting one:
Will fairies grant that wish upon a star
And help us grasp what we had fairly won?
Take heart; oft Love may be delayed and far,
But not reduced. Love stands on firmest ground
With branches spread, and always to be found.

Such a neat and well done Sonnet Jerry, every line with deep and flowing sincerity.I think chivalrous and gallant describe it best, a touch of the old masters bring out it's charm...Smooth as fine silk..Tangie..

I like to forget about contemporary poetry styles and transport myself back in time to those glorious days of Troubadours and Camelot. I sure am glad you like this sonnet. "Guenevere" likes it, too. Thanks again,

A wonderful reminder for me now to turn on the old charm machine, and rally my lady from her smartphone isolation and general funk Jerry. Now where did I leave that gizmo anyway?
An exquisite poem that deserves a second and third read. Thanks for sharing your words of wisdom my friend, and cheers! - Dan

trust me, it works every time, and your own lady will abandon her smartphone--naw! it's not gonna happen. That aside, thank you for your comment, Dan,

A delightful sonnet, conveying love by offering hope to the woman of his heart. It reminded me of how I felt when Paul walked into the kitchen with a handful of garden roses for me. I may be widowed but I can feel the joy of those moments. Congratulations on the TPS Spotlight. It is never to late for the expressions of love.

Thank you for the wonderful comment, Josie; I'm sorry for your loss, that of your husband. I just lost a friend and feel the emptiness in my heart.
