NPM Spotlight 4/3/18 A Song For My Days

She rises from her rocky bed
to brighten up dark skies
with beauty flaming all around,
she lifts her arms
and reaches for the high air,
bringing me from my sleep.

So joyfully her colors spread
this Dawn before my eyes
I climb from my linen warmth
to stretch and start another day,
to strike out on these moments new
and find new music to dance with.

I walk the well worn path of earth
to come before a Lake of glass
with pristine mist just rising and
Forest sounds beginning to stir.
the opening bars of an awakening song.

Settling upon the fresh sprung Moss,
her Brunswick coloring dew dusted,
I hold my breath and wait, listening
to the orchestra before me, tuning up
preparing for this grand arrival, striking
the first notes as "morning breaks light".

In all her grandeur she clears the horizon
her gown afire with living glow, she
runs through the trees, pushing their own
shadows along the ground before her.
Kissing the Lake with her silver laughter,
her baton has risen and fallen, to begin.

Crickets draw their bows and frogs
pluck their bass notes, the breeze rises,
her woodwind pleas play out in soothing
song, as soon Woodpeckers percuss and
the piccolo and flute are taken up by
songbirds of every color.

The Orchestra of the Deep Woods has
struck their opening chords, and I am
enthralled, perched and peaceful, I
close my eyes and breathe in this most
soulful moment. Let the world go away,
I shall lay my head on the forest Heart
And listen to this, a Song for my Days.

Rock bottom can bring about the most wonderful changes and truly make us feel alive again. We can all enjoy life more and better ourselves, if we take the time to learn from our experiences.
Very much enjoyed!

Everything is exactly as it should be. Why do we have such a hard time accepting it?

What a joy it was to immerse myself in the words, hues and
Images of this poem. This was better than coffee!

I absolutely love this. It actually reminds me of one I wrote along similar lines, but yours goes more in depth. I don't really know what to say, but that it's really stunning in its glory. You captured perfectly a woodland morning, making me hear the birds and see the sun rising over the lake and smell the tall pines, etc. etc. Very well done! I'm going to bookmark this one!

Magnificent imagery, and masterful use of language, once again Sue-- such a delight to read and much enjoyed.
