NPM Spotlight 4/4/18 A Memory

Post by wkamen » January 15th, 2018, 2:08 pm

There’s something about a memory
How it keeps coming back
Remaining vivid and heartwarming
for no-one knows the heartache
that lies behind my idle tears

I remember when I first saw you
Swayin’ to the rhythm of the waves
on a lonely stretch of sand
I walked up to you, Iooked into your eyes
my heart beating like a baby’s first heartbeat
saying hello
I knew I’d met the girl I thought I’d never find

Whenever I hear that song
I think about you and me
Strange how a song sounds like a memory,
Somewhere, somewhere only we know.

I remember walking together
barefoot in the sand, hand in hand
whispering under my breath
I’ve found the love for me

We stopped at the water’s edge
The soft sensuous touch of the breeze
embraced us and we had our first dance
In the sand listening to the song
A Summer Place
Lost in that moment
I was totally consumed
binding our love with a kiss

As daylight faded
a perfect sunset
gave life to a perfect day
I didn’t want this day to end
I didn’t want this day to ever ever end

Whenever I hear that song
I think about you and me
Strange how a song sounds like a memory,
Somewhere, somewhere only we know.

Even though there is a strong sense of love in this piece there is also a feeling of loss, that maybe that person is no longer there. I adored the language and the images this piece used. I love it when people combine nature into there pieces. Thanks for sharing

Very much enjoyed your idyllic treatment on a somewhat standard theme; but given new life with every note. Cheers WK and well done! - Dan
