8 Months and 1 Hour

Post by mkarger » April 14th, 2021, 5:16 am

Remember everything
In the dark
While you bathe

Remember the whistle of the wind on the pier
Remember the sunset

Stray from the light
Down the shore into the night
Ocean spray tickles your face

Remember what she told you before she left
Forever, again and again
Down the corridor
Dark and dim

“I could have been a better mother”
“I’m proud of you”

She died with one eye open

Loved "Stray from the light, Down the shore into the night". I felt the intensity of the rest of your poem but did not understand. An interesting read.

Thanks. It's about the passing of my mom from a terminal illness.
