A Simple Poet©
Post
by Rassy48 » November 24th, 2012, 9:37 pm
A simple poet...no fancy pen
No linen paper...grabs what he can
Sitting at home...one little room
Dim lit desk...poet’s tomb
Dusk to dawn...pages crumped
Concept lost...poet stumped
Great big words for this rendition
Don’t even know their definition
Scratch those creations...find what fits
Back to dim lights and all night sits
A simple poet...was once then
Wants to be that poet again

Michelle,
Thank-you for the compliment. Maybe part of IS me. I was thinking of how maybe some of the "Great Ones" may have started ... no fancy frills or monetary means to be able to afford the luxuries of the "Upper Class". One little room, one little dim light, perhaps no heat ... only to become some of the greatest writers known to the literary community. Compared to them, if I even dare, I AM just a simple poet. Thanks for stopping by. I always look forward to your comments!

I enjoyed this. There is beauty in simplicity, that cannot be denied
Breathe-in experience,
breathe-out poetry.

This is a nice and simple poem, but I felt some of the rhymes at the end of the couplets seemed a bit forced, such as in the first and third stanzas.

I used to write long hand Joanne but got sick of emptying the bin.
Then I went to a typewriter but the whiteout cost to much.
Good old computer lets me cut and paste so I have a new friend.
Some days your the pidgeon and other days the statue.

....and would I happen to know him as well? Thanks for stopping by, my friend. You are far from a "simple poet".

You have hit the nail on the head here ,Joanne. If the words flow, the meaning is clear. Obscure writing may tax the mind, but does it convey the message? This poem rang all the right bells.
Simply effective.!!

Seriki, I do so appreciate your wonderful comment. Thanks for stopping by and taking a interest in my creation. Glad you liked it so much.
Quiet poet, I am honored by your comments and your bookmarking my of my creation. More so, I am honored that you would feel my creation worthy enough to be put in "The Spotlight".
I cannot find words to show how much your thought mean to me, except "thank-you" to both of you.
