Crucified

Post by reveriebliss » April 19th, 2012, 1:03 pm

The arms that once extended for him, for her
Hold rigid in the form of hollow shoulders
Unable to embrace their own intention-
Hung in forethought.

Now inanimate intimacy keeps the only company-
Crucified in my own madness. Slain capability.

All touching the bloodied earth below these feet
Are stained memories: of he, of she.
The lightning flashed smiles and silhouette of dreams,
Drift in the dust of past Destinies

Inhaling the choking dust, I hear the laughter scream
From their smiles of present ecstasy
That drug of Affinity. Swallowed by ones with tongues.
Fed from the palms of strangers and voluptuous drunks
To him, to her

Limp limbs impart sensations they constrict
Affixed by the rusting metal of intellect. Nails upon the cross.
Unmoving beneath a sky of clouds, of stars, of storm
A witness to fleeting form.
As a trickling love wanes red thirst-
Along my fingers

Ahead, birds of melody dash diagonally
Telling of how she danced: fictionally free
Awakening my single recollection of animate beauty.
As seeds of grass sway in a maverick wind-
Like the one I loved
Though I remain- hung

The unnamed beggar- writhing in a setting sun
As rays burn the back of the one at the stake
Woven thorns crown this villain’s only glory
Wrapping the wrath of conscious purgatory

The catharsis of a sprawled body lays unseen
From shadows cast beyond sentiment.
For eyes purposefully look outward to him, to her
To hold a relative perspective together
Within the rapture of love

And though movements of men muster below
If compelled by drums of war, of insolence
Stimulating souls which swell-
Forget not: of he, of she
For the vertical grave- rests no head well

Wow....this poem is leaving me speechless. Amazingly written! I agree with the guy above though...bring back the exalt button cause this poem greatly deserves it!!!

Agree with the others! So very well done. My new exalt is simply a Cheers for now! Not easy to maintain that kind of pace and excellence in a long piece, but you were spot on perfect! -LMB xoxo

Hi RB ... I was drawn in from the start and your words held me there. If "personal" produces fabulous writing like this, then we should all think and write more personally.

Congratulations for The Spotlight!

Fantastic! I have attempted to capture pain, living death and find the imagery but youve blown all my attempts out the water, the crucifiction is touching on genius as a metaphor, especially how you have crafted your poem. The filler is sweet and easy on the reader and the big moments in the poem are exactly that.

I tip my hat to you

Wow, such a captivating piece of work. I wish we had an exalt button! I love the metaphor and title. Your words and vivid images drew me in and held me through to the end; I was left wanting more. Well deserving of a Spotlight!

Just amazing. I can't even piece together an appropriate comment. I love the wording here, makes this just an absolute pleasure to read. Gripping, striking, and with just powerful lines throughout that move the reader to the very soul. Gorgeous write definitely deserves the spotlight. Congrats once more! :wizard:

The first line of the second stanza really got the hook into me for this piece. That line is so powerful. Wish there was an exalt button. Congratulations on the spotlight
