I can only add my praise and congratulations. This is indeed an inspired and inspiring write. It is a profound truth that we all hunger to glimpse beyond our earthbound limits. You capture and stir this longing with beauty and poetic grace. Congratulations on the Spotlight.

Thanks so much for sharing.

Josie – Mother Earth provides warmth when we’re cold, clothes when we’re naked, air when we breathe, weather for the crops, beauty for the eyes and food for the body. She then whispers that she will let go of the gravity that holds us when we grow up and are wise enough to defy it on our own. Parents! You gotta love ‘em huh! Kinda makes me want a warm bottle of milk, a change of pampers with a hug, and a burp so I can sleep like a baby. Hey Ma! I’m home! What’s for chow! LOL. Now what proud scribbler of words could ask for more than that. Thanks for the congrats and for coming by and spendin’ a spell Josie. Glad you got catapulted here and maybe caught a glimpse. Namyh

Dew – So very glad you stopped in to drop some of your written dew on me. Now I’m refreshed and needed it. This work’s ending took a long time to finalize with any kind of earned pinache, especially going back and forth with one rewrite after another. Whew, exhausting! But If the flow indeed was sufficient enough to stop you alive in your thoughts, then this proud author would brave those rewrites over again and again, but this time with fresh Gatorade for those energy depletions I experienced. Poets! Go figure! LOL. Thanks for the congrats and also for finding a little beauty here too. Puts a perceptible sprinkle of poetic dew in my day and I don’t even want an umbrella. Whoa! Namyh

A grand vision, it certainly stretches the mind in an imaginative way.
Well done on the spotlight!

Congratulations on the spotlight. I enjoyed the entire read, but I must say the last stanza:

"And tho' you're a faint echo of a tiny whisper
in the thunder of Time called Man;
a trembling leaf on an outstretched branch,
a blade of grass on dry land,
a corner patch on some crazy quilt
where good and evil reign.
But Greatest wonder, your relentless search
to jump the stars in a single lurch,
to sit on God’s cosmic perch
and view the Earth again!"

Really takes the cake in this imaginative and exploratory (w)rite destined for the stars.

wendellgee – It is a journey Wg, a human one where a caveman once pointed to stars whose imagery excited his mind with a thought that maybe an adventure awaits up there one day. All he had to do was learn speech, discover fire, smelt metal, write books, invent electricity and find something that would burn and blast him off the planet. Nothing to it! Easy as pie! All in a short day’s work spanning 7 million years to become civilized enough and yet in geologic time, he hasn’t even broken a sweat. What will tomorrow bring indeed! Thanks for riding along on this poetic adventure wendellgee. Come on back anytime. We’ll save a seat for you. All you gotta do is buckle up and strap in for takeoff. All aboard! Namyh

everhopeful –
Man has been fascinated with the stars when he couldn't explain them and was humbled and equally fascinated with them when he could and was inspired. Perhaps it’s that darkness, that emptiness of the night that compels us to seek or impute explanations for its void and vastness making us think we're all alone in the Universe when maybe we're only just far, far, far away. Our poet words speak to different people differently but with a common voice that often reaches the heart or mind or spirit. We are poets and should feel very lucky we can touch people with the same hope a priest hears a confession that cleanses, a surgeon removes a harm that hurts or a mechanic replaces a part that fails. You gotta be in good shape to jump the stars. So here’s twinklin’ at you pilgrim with a hope the light shines through for a ‘glimpse’. Thanks everhopeful for your words, for your congrats and for your recognition. Namyh

Wow. This is very nat. I like how the poem feels very overwhelming for what it is named- the contrast is very cool. Nicely done with this! :) Congrats on your spotlight.

Mirthy – When early man began eating raw meat that he saw other predators devour and survive from, he never knew it would it would add high to the protein level of his own brain and make him smart enough to glimpse beyond his earthbound limits. It might have been that very day when he looked around and said “Whoa, I’m kinda cold. I think I’ll invent fire today and since I’m on a roll, I’m gonna throw in that wheel thing too. I’m tired of walking. You know, this is turning out to be one helluva good day”. Talk about your mirth!. Oops, there it is! LOL. You see Mirthy, you’ve been right there all the time. Thanks for the protein. Namyh

Rainman – Someone once said a mind is like a rubber band.which when stretched never regains the form it was originally. That’s like driving on a stretched road ahead of you and you just want to keep going instead of going back. Perhaps all our grandest visions lie just up the road where we can take a ‘glimpse’ if we stay the course. So buckle up pilgrim, turn the radio on, give it some gas and repeat the words of another famous Rainman who once said “I’m an excellent driver, excellent driver”. LOL. Thanks Rainman for coming over this way and staying a spell to enjoy. Much appreciated. Namyh

maggetator – I’m so very glad this made an impact on you. I wanted this to be visual enough for the reader to see it too. You’ve confirmed that the aim of my poetic arrow hit its target in you, especially when I used that one with “incredibly descriptive” printed on its side. LOL. Thanks for enjoying the impact maggetator. Hope it put a smile on you ‘cause you definitely put one on me. Namyh

inflames – No poet is better pumped up than to know a poetic work overwhelmed and did it with feeling on a topic that overwhelms with feeling everytime you think on it. Progress often hinges on us first being overwhelmed which prompts that insatiable curiosity of ours to ask questions which then make us humans in pursuit of answers that could make us gods. Beam me up Scotty ‘cause I got questions and a real need to feel divine, just like the rest of us who may say they don’t but harbor that they really do. Now how’s that for a ‘glimpse’ into the human psyche. Whew! Thanks inflames for the congrats, for being overwhelmed and for that wonderful “Wow”. Glad you enjoyed. Namyh

Zojourn – I once asked a 7 year old how would he get to the stars. He said “just take a big step across the sky” and then looked at me like I was a big dummy and should have known that. He immediately returned to watching Spongebob Squarepants and I stood there feeling like the biggest b---- there ever was. However, that was my inspiration for stanzas 1&2 because actually the kid was right. From the mouths of babes! Go figure! The last stanza sprang from reasoning that if I left our planet and landed on another, what would I do initially after getting there and the answer was my human nature would be to turn around and take a look at beautiful Mother Earth from a perch so far away and smile. Knowing me, I’d probably wave too. There! You finally dragged the recipe ingredients of the ‘Glimpse cake’ out of me and I thank you for it. LOL. Thanks loads for the congrats, for enjoying both that last stanza and the entire read. Now I’m ready to “boldly go……”. And you’re coming with me Z. So pack an overnite bag. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
