Our lives are like threads
Weaving back and forth
Sometimes knotted
Sometimes spotted with painful hues
Sometimes imbued with Royal blood
Always connected.
From truth injected beyond memory
Feel the pull of unseen hands
Submit
Submerge
For a time, diverge,
Then find a place beneath the scourge
Where all threads end, unfrazzled,
In a Tapestry of Majesty.
Weaving back and forth
Sometimes knotted
Sometimes spotted with painful hues
Sometimes imbued with Royal blood
Always connected.
From truth injected beyond memory
Feel the pull of unseen hands
Submit
Submerge
For a time, diverge,
Then find a place beneath the scourge
Where all threads end, unfrazzled,
In a Tapestry of Majesty.

Re: Tapestry of Majesty
I'm a big fan of poetry which can use form and structure to enhance and even enact the meaning of the words themselves, and this piece has that in spades! The use of internal rhyming helped to strengthen the theme of knotted threads like a tapestry and evoke the sometimes chaotic, but always interconnected, nature of life. I like how you concluded this in a way which showed some planning and control beyond the chaos, it was a fine way to utilise your extended metaphor.
Much enjoyed and admired work.

Nicely done.
Enjoy the rhyming construct.
The metaphorical approach added a sublime depth.
Excellent.

This is a great way to embody the population of the world. In a way, this is the perfect interpretation of how the world is. A great band of seven billion "threads" who are all different colors, material and strength, but when together make a "tapestry of majesty"; this world we call home. Great write.

A marvelous extended metaphor Phil and the ending was upbeat, which was a bit of a surprise for me. A wonderful piece for the spotlight considering the role of the individual in the greater scheme of things, cheers!
