My eyes glaze at the beauty of the stars
Glittering on the lake
And the thistle wisp of grass on the bottom of my toes
Hold in your eyes this glory
To be small in this universal glow
A flutter of the lash
And softness of breath
The touch of happiness
And a longing for it to last
Time is always a vessel
A moment that we remember
A place that said beautiful
And a life moving and loving
A resume of why life is worth living

Some really nice, subtle touches in this one, in among the more obvious grand imagery and references. I was particularly fond of the expression 'thistle wisp', it sounds as soft as what it describes, and the contrast between the little blade of grass beneath the speaker, to the source of light above them, gives this a very centred feel. Even though the thought of feeling small compared to the universe can be intimidating, this actually feels like an utterly serene piece, content and connected to the world.

If everyone would just stop in their frantic dash to go place, see people, buy, buy, buy, have, have, have, get, get, get, and climb that ladder........if instead they would take a walk outside, smell a flower, look closely at the lovely green trees, watch the waves on the lakes and ocean, listen to the birds, watch the butterflies, smell the rain, feel mud between their toes, see the stars, see the rainbows...their soul would find a calm it has been in need of for so long. Another spotlight poem this week which manages to make a lot out of relatively few words. Some solid images help to make this one even greater than the sum of its parts, and while the phrasing of 'thistle wisp' still captures my imagination, I think the tone and sentiment as a whole keeps it until the end.

Hi Root. I loved this. I can really identify with it too. When I have a problem nowdays, I tend to go out for a walk, usually at night (the dog LOVES it) and take in the stars and sky, the clearer the better. It tends to make my 'problem' virtually disappear, as if being under the wonder is really all that matters. The imagery you created in this piece captures that perfectly, and this wonderful poem deserves its Spotlight, congrats.

In this world of "glitzy" extravagence, the simple natural things that you bring out in your gentle poem are so often overlooked., even destroyed. This was a refreshing "wake up" call to appreciate the less artificial features that make life really worthwhile.
This could also be self-gratification in the nicest sense of the word, deserving your Spotlight accolade.
