The Chalice

Post by SirFleshwound » September 8th, 2012, 2:10 am

Primordial sediments boil and brew
A broth elemental of hearty blend
Her alchemy shapes my hope anew
Divine the wine of hope ascends

Before creations wind subsides
Before embers of corruptive flame
My privilege to have shared this ride
Fuels desire to drink life..ne’er to abstain

Hi SirFlwshwound,

A nice ode with an interesting alternate (aka 'cross') rhyme scheme. Were I in a pernickety mood, which I suppose I must be, then I'd wonder at your piece's lack of punctuation.

Thanks for the read.

Go well.

Anyway beautiful wording and I especially liked the last line of your poem.

SFW this was one to remember and she must definitely be something special so strike while the iron is hot perhaps! Before those creative winds subside and you become becalmed and adrift, cheers!

The central image of this one is excellent, slightly reminiscent of the Anacreontic form to me, which is always a plus. With your very smart use of vocabulary this relatively short poem feels like it carries the weight of far, far more, and it made me feel like drinking from that cup of life myself!
Congratulations on the spotlight!

Surprised and humbled to say the least. I'm quite sentimental about this one.

Transported me - felt more like waching a movie than reading a poem - I was there watching an ancient being's blessing descend ...

I was caught in the web of your words with 'boil, brew, broth, and blend' with 'before' echoing 'beginning'. Thank you for the delightful ride. Congrats on the TPS Spotlight.
