The Healing Hands

Post by LorettaYoung » April 12th, 2014, 7:18 pm

The Healing Hands

I am the wind
and flying free,
miles ago i held it,
a blatant memory
of innocence,
and childish dreams
then, i came to know
and see,
pain and woes worst misery
how the suffering
touched the core if me
and flying free,
i thought to be,
a pair of healing hands

Then stumbled on bureaucracy
dressed as clowns
with withered crowns, and
whispered hope upon their lips;
pretending to be kind and nice
disbursing tenuous advice
while securing tight,
my healing hands.
True giving hand and heart to heal
is now a secret mystery;
it's profit rules reality,
the throes of pain and misery

I cede you back to you,
society, no thanks
can't possibly conform
I sit simplicity upon the hill
where the thief on the cross
looks down on you still
a momentary glance
exceeds the worth of you
then i'll turn my head
to mist of true
and hidden rare realities
my childhood innocence too

And gaze out upon my window sill
to see the wave wash up the hill
and be the flower shining still
upon some ghost of mystery
who may need my healing hands
and in innocence again,
to feel that wind
still flying free
I do not need society,
to define
the worth of me

I'll etch it in the sand
for you to see
and if the waves do wash it free
again I'll carve that history
with my ever healing hands

A man is known buy the words of his mouth and the works of his hands, but guessing that the works are normally more enduring. An emotional piece LY and wonderfully wrought from inception, to implementation (and frustration), and finally the self-assurance of oneself and ultimate worth. Much like we are in our youthful exuberance, then gathering the knowledge of adulthood, and finally the wisdom of age and acceptance. Guessing you might have been in the medical field, cheers!

Hi, what an incredible surprise, my very humble thanks to you. I have been studying technique and all that involves; this positive feedback from this site is the first uplifting message I have received in a long time; you have certainly more than made my day. With gratitude, and thanks, Loretta

A lovely poem! I love your flowing style of story-telling, how you use words to speed and slow the rhythm and create feeling. Well done!

HEY - congrats on the spotlight. It was so refreshing reading this good rhyming verse...
between you and I, they can take their tenuous advice and shove it.

Dear Loretta Young,

I really love the rhythm and flow of this well conceived piece! It captures the essence of my feelings toward society perfectly! You tell us alot about yourself with this melodic poem! I much admired these lines:

I do not need society,
to define
the worth of me

I'll etch it in the sand
for you to see
and if the waves do wash it free
again I'll carve that history
with my ever healing hands

Congratulations!
always, Cat

I could use some of those hands. I really like the idea of this poem. I wish I could be as strong as this speaker seems to be. Congrats on your spotlight!

Hi Trevor, Jason, Candlewitch nd inflames; I don't find enough space to reply individually; but all and every one of your words are so inspiring. I have been studying form which applied to rhyme is quite restrictive and I don't know quite what to think of it. Since studying and practicing I have only written one poem; in meter, with feet, I'd like to share with you in the meantime. Thanks all again, Best, Loretta
