Alpha and Omega
Post
by GlobeTrotterMax » January 26th, 2013, 6:58 am
Panic in the red
Flowers replaced by lead
An uncertain road to nowhere is paved under our feet
The monster is fed
By hollow severed heads
Fortitude is cast aside in a forever retreat
Do you know who you are
Do you remember your name?
All I hear is laughter
All I touch or feel is pain
You just sit and stare
Since compassion’s not there
For a world that you no longer consider to be yours
In this devil’s lair
Our wasteland is laid bare
Just because there’s nothing left doesn’t mean there’s nothing more
Can my candle burn on
Even if the sun burns out?
We are free to die now
With no one to hear our shouts
In the aftermath
Of the mushroom’s dead ash
The steel giants lay toppled and Poseidon’s veins are sand
I can taste the black
On Atlas’s dead back
This is the pinnacle product of the conquest at hand
The sphere looks to the stars
Dryly weeping goodbye
A last prayer receives
Just recoil in reply
Both the beginning and the end
Creation and destruction
Alpha and Omega
Welcoming the success of human failure
“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.”

The beginning of the end? Max you just hook me with every single write. I love your writing style, your sublime diction and the imagery is first rate! You take the reader on the journey instead of telling them about your travels, and you do it with ease! A great piece you have written here! Thank you for sharing this gem with us!

"success of human failure"...that line was monumental as a steeple on this piece. I enjoyed the feeling it left...felt like wisdom - Dew

This is such a good write. I always love being reminded how good of a poet you are. Awesome last verse, Max. Congrats on the Spotlight!

Congrats on the Spotlight for this well-deserving piece.
Several excellent lines to be taken away, overall a maudlin yet warning piece, take heed and pay attention. You have sown this field of poison plants, and now they are all you have to eat. Thanks.

"In the aftermath
Of the mushroom’s dead ash"
Chilling words that bring to my mind a barrage of terrifying images. Boldly written with a wonderful
last line. Congrats on the spotlight!
