Linda

Her first name is Linda
You will have to guess her last
She was a secret love
From my storied past
Silver threads and golden needles
Down on the blue bayou
She sewed and sang to my heart
Don't you know this story is true

She said I'm going to love you
For a long, long time
When I heard her sing
The clock stopped telling time
She said you and I travel
To the beat of a different drum
In my sweetest dreams
She was always the one

Will you still love me tomorrow
She sang with so much soul
My answer is I have no choice
Over my heart I have no control
And now her angelic voice is gone
And oh my heart feels her pain
I hope and pray that she makes it home
That in heaven's choir one day I'll hear her again

Very rarely have I read about such a sweet and innocent love. As I read the beautiful descriptions, the love shined through.

She told me to live.

Kent! I think her last name must start with an "R" LOL!!!!!!!!!!! I remember being just a little guy the first time I saw her on TV (I'm sure you know which song)...the long hair and soft flowing gown and milky voice all worked on my little-guy impressionability and fixed my ideals for a while. Gorgeous homage to the lady...just delicious! - dew

thanks CarolynKleefeld and Dew for stopping by and for your kind words and encouragement, Dew I was wondering if anyone would realize who this was about, it took a long, long, time, lol, I had read that she had Parkinson's and had lost her voice, I went online and listened to her sing that song again, which was always my favorite song, It inspired me all over again, only in a different way, I wrote 5 new poems/lyrics to that tune, it has such a beautiful and unusual form to it, I have posted a couple of them, don't know if you read them or not," A Love For My Own" and "Till my Dying Day" are two of them , check them out, thanks again and may God bless.

Very beautiful to read and very much of the heart. You have captured an everlasting love. Thanks for sharing the words with us.

The sun is in our heart,
the moon is in our soul,
each day may change,
am just hoping to be here, for awhile,
for each sunrise and sunset.

riversidepoet - I know the feeling. Sometimes we have to just be happy when good things happen, especially when we know that the world doesn't stop for our grief. Most enjoyed. Namyh

A simple yet effective structure which hammered home firstly the very innocent tone of love, and second, the hopefulness of reunion in the afterlife. The last two lines were most beautifully written for this image. Many congrats on the spotlight!

Very melodic flow to this one, with undercurrents of both sadness and joy that combine nicely to enhance the whole. Enjoyable read!
