They say the 4 letters of God; no YWHW but WIFI.
"We're always connected to our provider." I sigh.

It's a virtual church without actual sages.
We're the gospel, performing on our stages.
Rapt in the arms of a Samsung Galaxy Spiral.
I'm sick of screen staring yet never go viral.

What'sappening to the world? Is something amiss?
Why are we here; what's the meaning of this?

Expression through interpunction
so why do our emotions function?

They preach of love so Tinder, ehh...tender.
'Superior' servants by smartphone sex send her
texts to be driven by an Uber-mensch today.
Fingers linger but bring her nothing to say.

What'sappening to the world? Is something amiss?
Why are we here; what's the meaning of this?

Dead to the world for 3 hours and they feel crucified.
It's the end of all hope when their Savior has died.

They speak of a miracle, a resurrection
when they've refound their connection.
Their battery is their moral; worthless when it's low.
They don't feel the gravity when 4G is slow.

The Larger than life legion is linked by lives made larger.
"Charge! Fight in the Appocalypse for the Great Charger!"

The gilded six-bits are today's Holy Grail.
No killer rabbits here but they may be hailed.
This nexus is no key; a planet's revival.
Is 3310 the number of survival?

This is true, we are now are society bound by texting and internet, almost unable to function without it, or at least that is how it seems. A well written poem thanks for sharing

As soon as I saw the title of this one I just knew I was going to love it, and you didn't disappoint me! In a way it could read like a sequel to one of my favourite pieces of yours, 3rd world Facebook, but this time you shine a light on the technology obsessed first world and the problems which rock their existence. You have captured the sheer asinine nature and personality of those who see no phone signal as the end of the world - I particularly loved the 'resurrection' angle you used too - and perhaps more subtly allude to the theory that technology is actually the new religion. Heaven, for some, is a place where 4G never fails.

Hominids appear to be approaching their limitations, and I believe we are witnessing the start of the cracks. Human processors are in overdrive, and there's no update in sight! Sadly, downtime seems to be a thing of the past. Very real, and very much enjoyed!

This was so on point, it made me sad. I can see this so clearly everyday around me, and I feel myself falling into that same void that has consumed everyone around me. I'm constantly fighting to control myself from corrupting my "religion." Thank you for sharing this and rekindling that fire for self-control. Powerful write.
