Ambrose Blaise Lewellyn blinked and had eternal dreams
He woke into the land of life where love leapt out in streams
Never having seen the veil that hides us under sorrow
He skipped along in joy and song to soar the never-morrow
A rainbow bowed and laid itself upon him for a sash
A sparkle-cloud burst on his eyes and glittered every lash
A whisper-wind blew kisses through his hair, with gentle flowing
These happenings unfolded past the edges of our knowing
You can’t imagine how they splashed - the feelings that he felt
The way the light could stroke your smile, then avalanche and melt
A sense could multiply its form and birth a thousand more
A shout could color silence out and pour a music shore
The spiraling of splendor wound around our early boy
He closed his eyes and opened them to test belief and joy
And every touch of infinite had laughed and re-arranged
Ambrose Blaise Lewellyn blinked again, again it changed...

Re: ABL (IK)
Interesting poem, Dew! Not quite what I expected for Fantasy, but there are some really beautiful lines here. Favorite, hands down: "The way the light could stroke your smile, then avalanche and melt..." I love that tender, fierce, and vibrant image. Really cool. I also liked this: "A rainbow bowed and laid itself upon him..." The way you've used light in this poem, and the way you've focused on a single character, feels very introspective to me. Great job. You are knocking it out of the park in every board!

Yeah, just to echo Bay a little, this one surprised me too. It's definitely fantasy material, but it's the kind which has a childhood innocence mixed in with an adult's poetic touch. Sort of a genre and age-range crossing piece, where the sing-song like way with words and delightful imagery wouldn't just appeal to youngsters, it would appeal to anyone with some innocence left in their soul.
Beautifully written, so vibrant and heart-warming.

"Never having seen the veil that hides us in our sorrow" - I took this to mean that he went strait to heaven, and the remainder of the poem then described paradise. If so, then that's the perfect description. I bow to your poetic genius!

NICE1Dew, I liked the way you carried the story along in a rhyming pattern that has become my favorite, nothing short of a dream-come-true. = Falstaff
