Song to Salvador.

Burnished copper dragonflies with opalescent skins
metal petalled flowers grow in alabaster bins,
shrouded in obsidian to hide the light of day
shadow creatures skim the night in irridescent play.
Giant squid with yellow eyes, and tentacles that feel
and dragons that are armored with shards of stainless steel,
the dark is split with amber eyes, and wings that hide the moon
while the sandman chants a mantra with a soft hypnotic tune.
In pools of lapis lazuli where crimson catfish leap
denizens of netherworlds come crashing from the deep,
clockword dogs that snarl and snap with chromium plated teeth
at manganese impala painted silver underneath.
Rainbow speckled spiders on a web of silver lace
Angels with corroded wings of convoluted grace,
seas of purple seaweed under soporific skies
in waking dreams before I sleep, I never close my eyes...

At first, before reading the final two lines, I was thinking that this was a wonderful kaleidoscope of metaphors for love. After reading the final line, I'm thinking the metaphor's are more for life, and what we see around us. Beautifully crafted!

Congratulations on the Spotlight. This poem is absolutely beautiful and enthralling too me. I thoroughly enjoyed every, single, solitary, last word within its body. Especially in the manner that they were put together and used in conjunction with one another. Gorgeous poem! Always a pleasure.

I forget what it represents. Gorgeous poem! Always a pleasure.

Upon doing a bit of research, the places represented online, do match the theme entirely all too well. Brazil and Central America at night. I was thinking about the movie 'Avatar' subconsciously as I was reading. Still a gorgeous poem and its only been a few minutes! Always a pleasure.

I could imagine the Narrator as an artist lying awake and transforming the world he saw using the materials like metal petalled flowers in alabaster bins shrouded in obsidian to hide the light of day. Because of the creative juices set free, I thought about Coleridge's Kubla Khan. Congratulations on the TPS Spotlight.

wow. wow. a real treat to read and ponder. amazingly vibrant and interestingly magnificent. the words you used couldn't have been better placed as the syllabic flow and rhyme remained true and unforced throughout. a fine tribute to a master artist, as i assume the salvador you reference in your title is the great dali. surely he felt that one.
