Twilight

A stare from a crumpled face
as gnarled fingers gently touch mine...

"Don't i know you?"

"Yes.....

..Yes you do Dad"

A Sad poem to the max. No one wants to lose their father to Alzheimer's disease. It happens, but it's very sad.

Felt like a punch in the gut
reading that last line even
though I knew it was coming.
Well done!

Right in the heart. This really kind of shocked me for some reason, I'm not sure why. It's heartbreaking and bittersweet, full of potential, but it will surely continue down the same road. Simple, yet there is so much complexity in a relationship. Short, yet this quick exchange says and explains so many things. Well deserved and well done. Welcome to TPS, I look forward to seeing more of your work.

I let the sun on my skin.
Pretend I don't burn
I'm not burning here.
I just lay ash
On my eyelids,
And rub it deep into my
Bones.

I liked the brevity and the use of dialogue. The subject matter touches so many families. Congratulations on the spotlight.
