Electric bug-a-boo

Tired of the cell phone virtual society Zombies,
While recycling some circuit boards made in Asia,
Mesh in a track of alluring sprockets,
Trying to create a cybernetic Geisha.

In re-voltage of the operations by this round bot-vac,
Driving my floor like a mad fool who had too much whiskey,
Earning the nickname of my affectionate ridicule,
The ever never present, Helen Keller-three sixty.

These things patrolling the roads of " areas " remote,
Dumb as a post and accomplishing nothing but interference,
Chasing after every rabbit, turtle and coyote,
To check the level of their security clearance.

Facetious muse in fear of a brave new world,
Is my Global Robotics Equity Fund ideally right?
A scintillating investment in dynamism never ending,
Or the dark side of our future bright.

The technological shock to our bread and circuses formulation,
Will there be the three laws of robotics or a "mala in se"?
Self-replicating, unpredictable, beyond the scope of engineering,
Artificial intelligence VS. natural stupidity.

Convoluted legislation for the modern "Electronic Persons",
The state-of-the-art, art-of-the-state social security fright,
Rea$$uring the fact that a fine is a tax for doing something wrong,
And a tax is a fine for doing something right.

Inhuman agent, individual or corporate,
A new R&D cracker jack franchise,
Exploited misuse, unethical social practice,
Sowing the nano seeds of our future demise?

My Elecromechpetiteical creation complete,
A new servant for man on the horizon,
Beautiful, three feet tall, no teeth
And a flat head to set my beer on. '

dear falstaff,

please don't hate me, but I howled with laughter while reading this piece! (I have a very perverse sense of humor, in case you didn't know it!) my favorite lines are:

Facetious muse in fear of a brave new world,
Is my Global Robotics Equity Fund ideally right?
A scintillating investment in dynamism never ending,
Or the dark side of our future bright.

I LOVED IT!!! keep it up!

always, Cat
ever, eddy

Falsie! - your closing describes the ideal woman, as I recall from another time! I'll take two please; C.O.D.
I had to read this slowly to do it justice since you packed so much into every line.
I liked the wordplay and the double reverse of meaning that seemed to take me back to how the Supreme Court re-wrote Obamacare considering the tax / fine (penalty) business. Many other tongue-in-cheek lines for the reader to enjoy at the expense of our enlightened society. Wondering if cake will be be served at the circus now??? Dystopia rocks! - Cheers my friend! - Dan

Wow...this is such a rich and complex poem. I need to spend more time parsing through to see if I can recognize all of the references, but some early comments: a beautiful sense of rhythm, an inspiring satirical voice driven by righteous anger, and an ending that runs chills down my spine. As with the best satire, this is also a darkly funny poem. Awesome.
