Three Legs

Post by skyhawk432 » July 13th, 2016, 5:37 pm

I walked on three legs
Through cracked concrete cities
Stiff to the coldness of stares
At my bleeding back.

I ate a submarine sandwich
With twelve fingered hands
As I sat and stood, dripping
Sweat off my four brows
From the furnace of faces
Enflamed by my presence.

I have seen oppression literally
Through fifteen lucid eyes
To know its curves and edges, its
Opaque cage for the elephant, its
Red oak mask of tolerance, its
Kettle boiled,
Almost flowing
From its tap.

I know oppression's right wingman will always be fear,
Fear of movement
From a planet off course, fear
Of an unknown smile emanating from my window, fear
Of another persons cross bearing the same weight
as my own.

I amble awkward towards
My burrowed home, microscopic
To those lucky humans
Bathed in normalcy
And spit fire, roar hearty
In victory of another day's chapter
Engraved neatly
On stone.

Very interesting imagery there;
really liked this line:
"Of an unknown smile emanating from my window"

Fear of the unknown is a common fear, but a smile would seem to suggest friendliness;
therefore, putting the two together lends to a somewhat eerie feeling...
