Endless Dream - Alaskan Mermaid Morning
Post
by mikecaalaska » December 22nd, 2016, 11:38 am
The travels of a northern Pacific mermaid continue. She is beautiful in the light of dawn and dusk. Her hair reflecting from the frozen northern sun, glowing orange, as it rises and sets so quickly. Has survived the haggards of the sea, sometimes it is comfort which she seeks and maybe a little love.
Endless Dream - Alaskan Mermaid Morning
Morning will not come for several more hours
gazing outside as snow drifts through a canopy
Alaskan hemlock and sitka spruce - providing shelter
perhaps from a storm
perhaps from a day ahead.
Again you drifted in on a winter’s tide
my legs shivering as I walked to the ice flow
gathering you in my arms
my mermaid returns from the north Pacific
how does a man not want to love you.
You, a goddess of the sea
a beautiful nymph
luring men from across the waters
here for a few brief hours
and then to be set free, with my love.
Close my eyes and fell asleep
and then awake, and then asleep - a cycle
night in the quiet of my soul
my heart beat with your heart
you and I are here for a few more precious hours.
My arm wraps around you
gentle touches to the upper curves of your body
we lay and I holding you tight
I am yours my Lady
you are mine.
My lips against your soft mouth
hands moving along the curves of your back
men say you are a myth
in the silence and stillness of the early morning
I never want to let you go.
Outside the winds of winter now blow
silence gone and holding you closer
slowly my body heat mixes with yours
lips now gently meet
you into my heart, into my soul.
Sky now filled with Alaskan winter darkness
star light above, you have seen forever
I pick you up from our warm bed
please my lady of the sea, rest a few more moments
you to return soon to your home.
Strange things happen in a world of eternal winter darkness
a soft glowing sun to soon appear on the horizon
a lady returned to her jagged piece of sea ice
moon, stars and a soft northern sun
sweet sea nymph, let them guide your path - please, please return.
The sun is in our heart,
the moon is in our soul,
each day may change,
am just hoping to be here, for awhile,
for each sunrise and sunset.

Hi!
The alien landscape of Alaska becomes more real with snow drifting through a canopy of Alaskan hemlock and sitka spruce. I like these lines:
/Again you drifted in on a winter's tide
my legs shivering as I walked to the ice flow/
Your mermaid becomes more visible to the reader. She returns from 'the north Pacific'. She know where to go so her love can find her, even for a 'few brief hours’. When 'the soft glowing sun appears on the horizon’ she has to leave, but she takes Narrator's love even though she must return to her home, and the fact he never wants to let her go.
As you create the scene the characters become more believable. When the wind blows and tide comes in, let your ears be like a recorder. Are there other animals around? Do the sounds or the animals, perhaps the trees, do they seem to be aware of the mermaid? Keep using your camera's eye and note the changes. I like the direction you are taking.

Josie, many thanks - I have a couple of photos that I wanted to add to the posting but have not figured out how to do it yet. Yes, this is a unique area - Girdwood in three miles from the waters of the inlet. The other sides are surrounded by steep mountains and a glaciated valley. Hanging glacier's - about a dozen viewable in summer.
Woods with lots of moose and in the warm seasons on the fringe of both black bear and grizzly's - I shoot a lot of photos and have them posted - ah, the seasonal changes, so unique.
My mermaid continues to come to life in this land
The sun is in our heart,
the moon is in our soul,
each day may change,
am just hoping to be here, for awhile,
for each sunrise and sunset.

This had a lot of beauty in it. The language was compelling and wove a beautiful tale and the descriptions made me feel likeI was there. As the tale progressed you gave the reader more and more. Well written and thanks for sharing

oh, how it had me right till the end! i've always been a fan of mermaids and i hopelessly and shamelessly wish for them to be true (lol, don't judge me!)
as the others said, the language was beautiful, very intriguing. congrats on the spotlight

Such an enchanting tale and who would not believe it?.It combines the wonders of this cold setting with a marvellous but fleeting fantasy. It was a complete and satiating story, written with a deep understanding of the romantic heart. It is a perfect spotlight choice..Well done..Tangie..

Many thanks Tangie -she continue on and her saga continues. A lady, nymph, mermaid and of the sea. She will find life, perhaps a new world, and of course, men have guided her to the deeps - subjects for further writing. Again thanks
