A KIND GARDEN

A kind garden rests
in its own peace today.
Yet the cawing crow
is still searching.
Am I searching, too?

Kindness bathes the air,
the light, the day.
And a freshness arrives
in the unseen cycle
of the moment.

White clouds
feather the blue skies
with drifting lace.

The day brims with harmony,
singing of its own rarified beauty.

And the naked moon,
indifferent to its sovereignty,
orbits the paling heavens.
Ancient, yet new, it is
sufficient unto itself this day,
although but a crescent.

While the misty infidels
wander like nomads
across the seamless skies,
new worlds are being born—
their fresh currents carrying
the seeds of whim, of possibility.

I too am partial to the quote by s(ou)lar. It is the strophe that really stands out [for me] adding a kind of surreal aura to this piece. puts me in mind of a verdant meadow in the deeps of a pristine forest.

This is a beautiful piece of writing. Loved every word of each line. Well done on a most deserving spotlight.

You painted a beautiful moment, a beautiful now, yet a cawing crow is searching. That makes me shudder like a force of change is about to appear, perhaps a storm. Am I stepping out of the present into the future? Your poem seems to want me to stay and enjoy this garden of kindness. The poet goes on to describe the beauty of the moon and surprises me that right now it is just a crescent in the sky. Is it waxing or waning? I am old and my time of living is becoming shorter, While I live l should enoy the beauty and kindness that surround me. The poem shifts to the seemless skies where the poet sees new worlds being born. Yes, the world is going to change. New expectations and new kindness may be the outcome. I am always surprised by where a poem will take me.
