Stars(In love and loving)

Post by Zaylane » May 17th, 2018, 9:23 am

Can we still talk of the stars though you will not be mine?
Can we allow conversation to distract us from time?
Can we speak of the things that only we understand?
Yes, I know what I want, but, I know where I stand.
Enamoured by our little talks and the little smiles we share,
oh how obvious and open is the fact that you do care.
I know our hands will never touch in love or any passion.
It pleases me to speak to you and speak as is our fashion
of all the constellations that decorate the night sky.
Please allow me the privilege of saying you and I.
I do not beg for your heart for if you give it to another,
it will be a bittersweet time, but I time that I will treasure.
I still want to speak to you, I want you to speak to me.
You're the best person I know to speak any astronomy.
I am fine with you not loving me, I have prepared my heart.
My heart, I had not prepared it, for us to be apart.
I want to talk about the stars, I know that you're not mine.
I just want the conversation that distracts us from time.

Give me a paper,
and give me a pen,
I'll write justification,
I'll need it as well.

The smooth flow to the rhyme and the blend of wistfulness and tenderness makes this an absolute pleasure to read!

This felt so bittersweet to me. I loved the stars and sky woven through this piece... truly beautiful.

This narrator wants friendships if can't be lovers, it means doesn't want to be apart as it's too painful to be. like how it's written.

By utilizing simple words you have reached and decoded the multidimensional relationship between a man and a woman. Thanks for the read.

Oh, I can relate to this poem completely, to that incredibly bittersweet feeling of wanting somebody but not knowing whether you can have them, and wishing for friendship if the bigger plans do not come to fruition. The poem has a subtle intensity which perfectly conveys that longing. Well done.

But if you remove "bitter" from bittersweet all that remains is sweet. What is wrong with that?!

Yeah, it'd be great if you could do that, wouldn't it?

This is true love. Loving someone but willing to let them love another instead of you and finding a bit of sweetsness in the person being happy. It’s a very generous and heart warming position. I recently posted a poem with a similar take. Thanks for sharing.
